Starting online businesses, or any business, is a major step to take because the old saying: “You must speculate to accumulate” is still true. So before you even start thinking of earning an online income you must be aware of how much capital you have to speculate with.

Sure you receive dozens, even hundreds of emails with ‘fr//ee’ offers telling you how it is possible to make $10K per month with zero outlay. Just take my word for it that none of these schemes are successful and you can waste years attempting to make one work. When starting online businesses know what you wish to achieve before getting involved with planning. Those that don't ahve a clear plan usually fail.

It is cheaper to start an online business because you don’t need a storefront on High Street and you don’t need to have thousands of dollars of stock. The remainder is exactly the same as having a store on High Street. You have to publicize your business and get as many customers as possible coming to visit you. Now stop and think for a moment. You need a website and nobody will take you seriously if you have one of those fr//ee websites. If you attempt to start with a freebie website you’ll grow old waiting for the first buyer. Why? They just don’t trust those sites when it comes to business.

So let’s be honest a good website that will give you 100% uptime does not come cheaply. Is 100% uptime important? You bet it is because while you sleep more than half of the world population is awake; you can’t work for just 10 hours a day online – it is a 24/7 occupation. Because of this you need automate as much as possible from Day 1. So you need a webhost that will enable you to do just that. Don’t believe the $10 per month hosts they cannot offer the service you need at those prices. You must expect to pay between $300 and $400 each year to have a website that will give you what you need.

After this you need to attract traffic to your site because if you get 10 or 12 visitors each day it is unlikely that you will ever make a sale – You need hundreds of visitors each day because you will only convert between 1% and 2% of them into buying clients. There is a constant argument regarding the cost of education. The one thing we all agree on is that there is a cost for education. You can pay an expert to teach you and that will cost a lot of money up front. The alternative is to attempt to succeed using trial and error. Why do people surf the net and what are they seeking? Please do not rush in without thinking because the road to failure is littered with rejects that attempted to start out without a plan.
